Early Dose

- After 2.86 FPY, all components of the plant would qualify for disposal as Class C LLW
- After 2.86 FPY, the divertor plate and manifold will qualify for disposal as Class C low level waste
- After 40 FPY, the shield would also qualify for disposal as Class C LLW
- The off-site dose calculations indicate that the current design produces an off-site dose that dose not exceed the 10 mSv required to avoid evacuation in case of an accident
- Excluding 210Po and 203Hg, the off-site dose is dominated by 54Mn, 56Mn, and 60Co which are produced by trasmutation of steel
- 210Po produces about 65% of the expected off-site dose
