Design Summary

Compared to a "standard tokamak", ARIES-ST power plant with low aspect ratio of 1.6 and high plasma elongation of 3.4 has very tall and skinny in-vessel components.

TF height (m) OB-shield height(m)
ARIES-I10.57 9.0
ARIES-IV14.439.2
ARIES-ST28.018.5

Whole power core is supported from retractable beams and can be lowered by the telescopic cylinders.

The centerpost (CP) is physically independent from the high-temperature power core. It can be removed together with the power core or separately.

The configuration design provides a vertical access that enables the power core to be replaced effectively.

The configuration design also provides a closed containment for the radioactivity components and dusts.
