- In C-Mod, design of 50 kA leads across 17 T TF field has been demonstrated
- Coax feedthrough
- Load cancellation for both TF and PF fields
- no net load, no net twisting force, independent of TF/PF fields
- Coax feedthrough with CICC is difficult
- High-Tc feedthrough has been designed
- Quick connect/disconnect at high temperature station (50-77 K)
- May require magnetic shielding due to strong PF fields
- Achievable with HTS (YBCO materials, demonstrated)
- Heat input through leads reduced to about 5-15 W
- Length of about 30-40 cm (only HTS part)
