The complexities of monitoring and controlling the various DIII D Tokamak systems has always required high speed computer resources. Recent hardware upgrades to the computer system used to control the DIII D tokamak and neutral beam injectors have been accompanied by a redesign of the corresponding software. During the design and development of the software many newer features have been added especially in the realm of Graphical User Interfaces and database management. For most of the systems involved, this required the implementation of third party software, including a crucial package written by AccessWare Inc.

The three main objectives of this paper are to 1) present a brief overview of hardware/software changes to the neutral beam control systems 2) describe the design and structure of the resulting software and 3) evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of the new control software.
