The objective of this international workshop is to advance the scientific knowledge of emerging fusion technologies for the transmutation of nuclear waste.

The specific purposes of the workshop are:

We are expecting attendance of many experts in fusion and fission science and technology (see attendance list). Presentation of research results and discussion of relevant scientific issues associated with the transmutation of nuclear waste will be the main activities of this workshop.

To facilitate the advancement of scientific knowledge in this field, the following sessions are being organized:

A. International Programs and Cooperation for the Transmutation of Nuclear Waste
B. Fusion Blankets for the Transmutation of Actinides
C. Fusion Concepts for the Transmutation of Actinides

To further promote international participation in this field of research, the workshop is to be held in conjunction with U.S.-Russia Exchange Workshops on Blanket and Fusion Concept for the Transmutation of Actinides, and on Technical and Engineering Problems of Spherical Torus Volumetric Neutron Source. Tentative collaboration activities between the US and Russian scientists are to be discussed at the workshop.

If you are interested in attending the workshop, please send an e-mail note to etcheng@cts.com. Please provide the title of your discussion subject if you plan to give a presentation.

Any comments or questions, please send to etcheng@cts.com.
