OFES Restructuring Detail
As described in FPN-12, the DOE Office of Fusion Energy Sciences (OFES) has reorganized into teams, with team members coming from both the Science Division and the Technology Division. The team leaders were identified in FPN-12. In announcing the team members, OFES deputy director Milt Johnson noted that Steve Ekstrand, who had been identified as Team Leader for Theory "is not available for the immediate future." He has been on assignment working for Energy Research Director Martha Krebs. Johnson indicated that Walter Sadowski has been named "Acting Team Leader" for the theory program. Johnson has also indicated that the Spinoffs Team would be an ad hoc team with a temporary function and not a permanent team. He also indicated that leadership of the tokamak team would be rotated on about a 6 month time frame. The teams and their members are as follows:
ITER: Warren Marton (Leader), Members: Berk, Bolton, Cohen, Dagazian, George, Kratzke, Markevich, Nardella, Oktay, Rossi, Sadowski, Staten, Wiffen.
Tokamak: Erol Oktay (Leader), Members: Cohen, Dove, Eckstrand, Finfgeld, George, Hoy, Markevich, Nardella, Rossi, Sadowski.
Technology: Sam Berk (Leader), Members: Cohen, Dove, George, Marton, Nardella, Rossi, Staten, Wiffen, Wilson.
Alternates: Ron McKnight (Leader), Members: Blanken, Cohen, Crisp, Dove, George, Hoy, Markevich.
Plasma Science: Ron McKnight (Leader), Members: Blanken, Sadowski, Crisp.
Theory: Walter Sadowski (Acting Leader), Members: Bolton, Crisp, Dagazian, Eckstrand.
Johnson indicated exactly how the teams would function would "evolve" and that "for continuity, please continue to work with the same staff members as you presently do, as they will take these responsibilities with them in their team assignments."
